Abstract

|
Optimum conditions of the scintillation counter for the measurement of the thyroid uptake were determined by varying the standard source in polyethylene tube and beaker, with and without filters of various kinds, and changing the distance between the source and the counter. Accurate results with the scintillation detector in measuring the thyroid uptake were obtained by using A or AB filter systems, and the optimum distance from scintillation detector to standard source were found to be 25 cm to 40 cm in Hi-or Eu-thyeoid and 20 cm to 25 cm in Lo-thyroid.
